Florida Southern’s Joseph Ammer and John Coultas were named Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Men’s Golfer of the Week, respectively, by the Sunshine State Conference on Monday. Ammer, a sophomore from Germany, scored a goal and added three assists in a 5-4 win over Rollins. Coultas, a junior, shot an 11-under par 205 to finish in a 3-way tie for first place at the NCAA Division II National Preview.

There were 10 athletes honored by The Sun Conference as players of the week in their respective sports on Monday. Nine of them were from Southeastern, Webber and Warner. Southeastern tailback Jarrell Reynolds as well as Warner defensive back Ronnie Harris and kicker/punter Geness Kennedy took home the weekly football awards. LAKELAND — Another Sun Conference school is joining the NAIA football fray. Keiser University, located in West Palm Beach, will add football and begin play in 2018. The announcement was made by the school’s chancellor, Dr. Arthur Keiser, on Tuesday. Keiser now boasts 22 intercollegiate teams, and is the fifth full-time school in the conference to add football.
